Septem Today, Autodesk changed the criteria for Fusion 360’s Personal Use License. It remains in the product unchanged and will not be removed as other announced changes roll out October 2020 and January 2021. However, rather than just being bitter I wanted to share some of the sentiment those of us in the maker communities are thinking and feeling. The Fusion 360 team has made the decision to continue to allow STEP export for personal, non-commercial users. I am not ungrateful for the willingness of Autodesk to offer the personal license, and my post here is probably insignificant. If we abandon and invest the time to learn another software, process, and system, I doubt we will be back, and the loss of precious time invested will remain a sore spot. On October 1st, 2020 - Fusion 360 for personal use will be defining clearer lines between what is available in Fusion 360 for personal use compared to other offerings in order to align with intended usage, scale for the future, and stay true to Autodesk’s guiding principles of democratizing design. In my case I imagined one day when I retire from professional life being able to justify a small business using what I am learning and relying on a paid version of Fusion 360 to facilitate that. All of us are still learning, we have day jobs and dabble in 3d printing and CNC routing in fits and starts as life allows and support each other in communities. Am I eligible to use Fusion 360 in my browser Any student, educator, school IT administrator, or design competition mentor who has created an Autodesk. Free, limited version of Fusion 360 for qualified hobby, non-commercial users. There a many of us and the discussion now is centered around life after Fusion 360 due to the new restrictions to the personal license. Download Fusion 360 for personal, hobby use. In my case I transitioned from Sketchup to learn Fusion 360, this is not a simple or easy transition, if not for the current capability of Fusion 360 I would have never bothered. I am a maker and a part of a large maker community. I read through the answers in the link above. I am a little embarrassed but I believe in open communication so I posted the following in the Autodesk Fusion 360 forums.
